Schiller Australia are proud sponsors of the RFDS Star Program

Over a weekend in November, a select group of emergency medial professionals undertook

specialised training at the RFDS Brisbane base. Schiller Australia was a proud sponsor of The Essential Aspects of Aeromedical Retrieval program which gave delegates the opportunity to receive training and education in all aspects of aeromedical retrieval including the retrieval and transport of critically ill patients and how to apply critical care skills in a restrictive and unpredictable environment.

Congratulations to everyone who attended this course from the staff and management of Schiller Australia!

Automated External Defibrillator Available at Schiller Australia Pty Ltd.

July 2011 – Our business involves providing life saving devices to keep workplaces and the greater community safe. This includes an automated external defibrillator (AED).

A defibrillator reduces the risk of death if sudden cardiac arrest occurs. More than 30,000 Australians are at risk of heart attack each year hence it’s so important for AED’s to be available to the public when required.

We have an AED installed at our office and have contacted our neighbours in the immediate area to let them know that there is a lifesaving FRED Easy defibrillator on hand should they ever need to use one.

The chance of survival from sudden cardiac arrest decreases by approximately 10% for every minute that passes before defibrillation. Immediate action must be taken by bystanders as the first few minutes before medical help arrives are the key to survival.  One cannot afford to just wait for an ambulance.

With an AED in our offices, we’ve invited our neighbours to send a representative to grab it from the wall inside our if required, or phone us to have it brought over asap.

Schiller Australia sponsors MS Australia and sets a FRED Easyport AED challenge

FRED Easyport AED challenge

June 2011 – Schiller Australia are proud to sponsor a 2011 MS Walk and Fun Run participant and fellow colleague as part of the fundraising activities organised by MS Australia during MS awareness week.

MS is the most common disease of the central nervous system and affects more than 20,000 Australians. MS Australia’s goal is to assist everyone affected by MS to live life to their fullest potential and secure the care and support they need, until we ultimately find a cure.

Schiller Australia is proud to have an opportunity to support such a worthwhile cause.

As an extra challenge we asked Ellen to complete the 9km walk with a FRED Easyport AED which she did easily, demonstrating how light and convenient our life saving devices can be.

Schiller’s donation to Red Cross saves a life.

Life saved by AEDMay 2011 – Schiller donated a defibrillator to the German Red Cross in Karlsruhe; an organisation that has been running a campaign to draw attention to the need for defibrillators called “Battle against Cardiac Arrest”.

Schiller’s FRED® defibrillator was used to save 13-year old Joan on Christmas eve who collapsed suddenly whilst playing a computer game.
There were no signs of any health problems and no warning. Without immediate resuscitation and the rapid deployment of a defibrillator the young patient would not have stood a chance.

Read more about how paramedics worked to save Joan on our blog.

Salvos Golf Day

March 2011 – Our Sales and Operations Manager, Mat was a guest of The REI and Law Society who are hosted this years Salvation Army Charity Golf Day, held at The Vintage in Pokolbin.

Mat spent his time on the green sharing the lifesaving secrets of Automated External Defibrillator’s (AED). with representatives from many local businesses. Many Australian cities and businesses are still currently without access to defibrillators and a chance to save lives during a cardiac emergency. Schiller encourages local businesses and governments to identify areas in their community where an AED could be installed to help reduce the risk of death by cardiac arrest.

In addition to participating in the game, SCHILLER Australia also proudly donated the FRED Easy AED. This semi-automatic defibrillator, FRED® Easy AED, offers visible and audible instructions as well as a user friendly LCD screen making resuscitation more simple and effective.

Silvan Footy Club

March 2011 – AFL clubs throughout Victoria were devastated by the loss of 22 year old Vincent Bonanno who collapsed following a sudden cardiac arrest during footy training at Silvan’s footy ground, East of Melbourne. Those on the scene did all they could but sadly, without the right tools, Vincent was unable to be revived.

Upon hearing the tragic news, our Managing Direct, Harry Packer joined forces with local Victorian first aid training company, Staying Alive Paramedical services and traveled to Silvan to donate a FRED® Easy AED Online and valuable first aid training.

“An immediate response to a cardiac arrest can be the difference between life and death.” notes SCHILLER Australia Managing Director, Harry Packer “CPR and defibrillation early triples a person’s chance of surviving.”

This need for immediate action action is why SCHILLER Australia and Staying Alive Paramedical Services donated their time and equipment to Silvan Football Club to ensure that if such an event occurs again the club and it’s players will be prepared and able to give their teammates the best chance of survival.
