The Art of Diagnostics

SCHILLER was founded in 1974 by Alfred E. Schiller. Starting in a four-room apartment as a one-man business, the company has become a successful group with around 1000 employees, 30 subsidiaries and a global sales network. Today, SCHILLER is a world-leading manufacturer and supplier of devices for cardiopulmonary diagnostics, defibrillation and patient monitoring as well as software solutions for the medical industry. In spite of the company’s continuous growth, size is not as important to SCHILLER as is strength. It relies on a motivated team, creativity, openness to new ideas and pioneer courage. «The Art of Diagnostics» is infinitely creative and it inspires us to continuously improve our products.

Ideas are our strength.

We are looking for technical challenges. Fun, the curiosity for something new, creativity and the courage to perform pioneering work: these are the things that distinguish our innovative power. This enthusiasm is noticeable in our products.

Our products are characterised by their leading-edge technology and highest quality and precision. It is not without reason that «Swiss precision» is praised around the world. We are committed to maintaining the highest possible quality standards, from development to production and sales.

In 1984, SCHILLER was one of the first companies in Switzerland to introduce an SMD installation for its production department. Every year, SCHILLER invests a part of its revenue in the latest manufacturing machines.

Our long-standing experience allows us to generate sustainable added value for our customers. Some of our devices have been successful on the market for over 20 years and we still sell them in large quantities.

Ideas become opportunities for the future. Our aim is to stay innovative and remain a market leader.

Complete system solutions with highly accurate diagnoses.

Our devices are universally applicable. We offer solutions for registered doctors as well as specialists such as cardiologists and pulmonologists, who work in GP surgeries, hospitals, university hospitals or in research. We also work with emergency doctors and rescue services, or support military operations on land, on the water or in the air.

Consequently, our devices are highly versatile. Many of them are multifunctional and can be networked so that they can easily be integrated into existing structures.

SCHILLER started off with electrocardiographs and has constantly developed so that today, blood pressure measurements, (ergo-)spirometry, patient monitoring, rescue and medical IT solutions are also part of our product range.

Thanks to sophisticated and unique algorithms, we are able to detect abnormal findings early and accurately: we can precisely localise a coronary obstruction, diagnose heart diseases thanks to high-frequency signals, or defibrillate the heart with only the necessary amount of energy.

The long-standing cooperation with specialists and universities, as well as our closeness to the market, and our lean organisational structure allow us to stay flexible and develop products that are geared to the needs of our customers.

For us, the Art of Diagnostics is unlimited.

Since its foundation, SCHILLER has forged its own path, seeking solutions to improve the ease of use of medical devices for rescuers and doctors: while most established manufacturers still sold heavy and bulky emergency devices back in 1974, SCHILLER launched a convenient emergency electrocardioscope that was ten times lighter. All at once, the company not only made a name for itself, but it also set new standards. Two years later, the smallest emergency ECG device with integrated printer followed.

We always rely on the latest technologies in electronics and mechanics to make our products more accurate and efficient.

SCHILLER was one of the first manufacturers to use membrane keyboards, which make the devices easier to clean and thus improve hygiene. In 1984, the first 6-channel ECG device with PC-based automatic interpretation and measurement functions was a world premiere. Only three years later, the first medical data management software was released. Later on, SCHILLER launched the FRED easyport, the first and only pocket-sized defibrillator worldwide.

From Switzerland into the world.

Over the years, the company has grown, along with the product range.

Our products are mainly developed and manufactured at the headquarters in Baar (Switzerland) and in Wissembourg (France) and are certified according to the latest international standards. A further location in China (Tianjin) serves the Asian market. Moreover, we have a competence centre for high-end Holters (long-term ECGs) in Graz (Austria). SCHILLER holds a majority interest in the registered capital of GANSHORN, a company specialising in pulmonary function diagnostics. Cardiology and pneumology are moving closer together and SCHILLER has identified this market need early on and is now able to offer sophisticated solutions even in this area.

Back then as well as today, the health of people is paramount to SCHILLER. It fills us with pride that our high-end devices save lives every single day.

Exciting times lie ahead and SCHILLER is looking forward to it!
